As our country grows in diversity, we are remaining monolithic in our educational delivery and academic responses; there is a tremendous widening of the achievement gap that exists between the underrepresented and traditional cultures. The First Annual Educational Justice Conference is a collaboration between Bethune-Cookman University and stakeholders within school districts, governmental agencies, community organizations and families to strengthen educational systems in our region.

The Educational Justice Conference will offer opportunities to dialogue and hear presentations on critical issues affecting educational justice; including, but not limited to, under-resourced schools, teacher preparation, mislabeling, insensitivity and family/community support. It will equip participants with the tools needed to understand, serve, and advocate for persons who are often underrepresented (e.g., minorities, English language learners, economically disadvantaged).
